but there are definitely some problems this-derived
Avatar
they did say "usually"
Avatar
Deleted User 7/22/2018 9:39 PM
i disagree with that too
Avatar
Okay, so see again what they wrote. Kill them, or learn to live like this. It sounds pretty rough, but I think those are your only two options.
Avatar
Deleted User 7/22/2018 9:39 PM
but context clues points towards an assertion that this isnt the problem
9:39 PM
Yeah, anyway, as Smeer said
9:39 PM
Those are your options
9:39 PM
@Smeer , dissipation is not killing.
9:40 PM
Yes it is
9:40 PM
okay
Avatar
If they are people, it's killing. If they are identities, which I know you believe, then I guess it's not.
Avatar
also depends on if you believe that you can revive them after dissipation
9:42 PM
if yes, you've just put them on ice. if not, you killed them
Avatar
Deleted User 7/22/2018 9:44 PM
Tulpas are not living organisms. Regardless of them being persons or not, I don't think killing is a good word.
9:44 PM
think it's not that good to compare killing a living organism to dissipate an identity. Not like dissipation is not controversial but there is significant difference between taking life and destroying (let's assume dissipation means that for a moment) something entirely mental.
9:44 PM
If I murder your soul, I think it counts as killing you
9:45 PM
Even if your body survives, you are no longer you
Avatar
So yes, as I said, it depends on if you think a tulpa is an identity or not.
Avatar
Deleted User 7/22/2018 9:45 PM
Existence of souls is unproven.
9:45 PM
And imo unlikely.
Avatar
Maybe you want to reserve the word "killing" for the body's death.
Avatar
Deleted User 7/22/2018 9:45 PM
Lmao, edgy
9:45 PM
Replace soul with personality if you like
Avatar
Deleted User 7/22/2018 9:45 PM
What a depressing thing to say, though
9:45 PM
to say what?
9:45 PM
"Existence of souls is unproven. And imo unlikely."
9:46 PM
Why is it depressing?
9:46 PM
If you have to ask, that makes it worse.
Avatar
Deleted User 7/22/2018 9:47 PM
Some things can't be proven, anyway
9:47 PM
Like solipsism
9:47 PM
Solipsism is unlikely too.
Avatar
Breloomancer 7/22/2018 9:47 PM
What is solipsism
Avatar
Deleted User 7/22/2018 9:47 PM
Solipsism ( ( listen); from Latin solus, meaning 'alone', and ipse, meaning 'self') is the philosophical idea that only one's own mind is sure to exist. As an epistemological position, solipsism holds that knowledge of anything outside one's own mind is unsure; the external...
9:47 PM
Thinking that only you really exists
9:47 PM
Solipsism (/ˈsɒlɪpsɪzəm/ (About this sound listen); from Latin solus, meaning 'alone', and ipse, meaning 'self')[1] is the philosophical idea that only one's own mind is sure to exist.
9:48 PM
rolls her eyes
9:48 PM
People who only believe what's been proven with science irritate me
9:49 PM
Well, I believe in a lot of things
9:49 PM
News flash: science isn't infallible, not only does it get things wrong all the time, it's also belief-based itself
9:49 PM
Science constantly tries to verify knowlegde it provides
Avatar
Deleted User 7/22/2018 9:50 PM
Sometimes we get only approximiation, sometimes we are wrong indeed.
Avatar
Breloomancer 7/22/2018 9:50 PM
Well the idea of science is to use as little faith as possible
Avatar
Deleted User 7/22/2018 9:50 PM
ForsenE
9:51 PM
But scientists can admit to a mistake. And will eagerly if you show them evidence
9:51 PM
You would be so fucked in philosophy class lul
9:51 PM
It's a strenght of science as a method.
Avatar
I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to think that souls don't exist- that implication could be scary or sad to us, but not to her. It's all subjective.
Avatar
not trying to discourage the discussion, but it should probably move to lounge or cafe
Avatar
Deleted User 7/22/2018 9:52 PM
Well, being immortal would have its advantages and disadvantages.
9:52 PM
Oh, sure, let's move to lounge
Avatar
That time Lumi was featured in a TB vid ?? what is TB?
6:05 AM
you thought this random person with lumi somewhere in their name in some random vid was our Lumi? xD
6:05 AM
had me real confused
Avatar
Yeah no, everyone knows that if it was lumi it would actually say Reisin.
6:25 AM
Is that the correct spelling?
Avatar
Syfar System 7/23/2018 7:28 AM
Question, how does getting drunk effect tulpa related stuffs?
7:28 AM
For other people anyway
Avatar
Deleted User 7/23/2018 7:30 AM
It can stop you from switching/talking to other people in your system
Avatar
Syfar System 7/23/2018 7:30 AM
He was still able to talk with me, and even seemed to function a bit better the few times he did talk.
7:31 AM
[Yah, it was a mess tho...]
7:31 AM
[Not a whole lot of thinking in the first place xD] (edited)
Avatar
Being drunk causes our communication to break down.
7:37 AM
This is also the case with marijuana usage.
7:37 AM
Naturally, the effect is proportionate to the amount used.
Avatar
Syfar System 7/23/2018 7:38 AM
Yep, seems to be the case... with the 2 times we tried it xD
Avatar
It has also essentially prevented us from switching almost entirely.
Avatar
Syfar System 7/23/2018 7:40 AM
Wait, so was it the host who is just there then?
7:40 AM
Or is it whoever was there already?
7:43 AM
I think I was in front the whole time... but eh, I'm not sure because we are new to drinking entirely...
Avatar
Syfar System 7/23/2018 7:51 AM
Winter....? Winter.........? No? Ok then. 😦
Avatar
Claira x fuzztail 7/23/2018 8:16 AM
meow
Avatar
Whoever was fronting at the time.
8:17 AM
Apologies, Syfar. We are at work, and can only respond slowly.
Avatar
Hey all.
8:48 PM
Is it possible for a Tulpa to have omniscience and prescience?
Avatar
bduddy #Diana# 7/23/2018 8:49 PM
err
8:49 PM
why would you think something like that would be possible
8:49 PM
they're not magic
Avatar
Heraclitus seems to be able to perceive things that are outside of sensory range
Avatar
#metaphysics for that kind of discussion
Avatar
your tulpa can access the information you have, such as your senses and your memories
Avatar
Breloomancer 7/23/2018 8:50 PM
Well have you done actual controled tests of it?
Avatar
if they seem to know stuff you'd have no way of knowing, they're probably just making inferences you hadn't thought of
8:51 PM
it is possible for a tulpa to be smarter than their host you know
Avatar
No controlled tests - yes, Heraclitus is designed to be smarter than me
Avatar
I doubt a tulpa will be smarter than the host. They'll all have equal access to the same mental functions, it just depends on how they use them to make them seem smarter
Avatar
it's also in theory possible for tulpas to form their own memories completely separate if the host is able to go dormant but the host should also be able to figure out how to access the tulpas memeories if that's the case
Avatar
Breloomancer 7/23/2018 8:53 PM
Well until you have done any sort of testing it is best to assume that heraclitus is simply good at figuring out that sort of thing
Avatar
that depends on how you evaluate intelligence
Avatar
It's the same brain dude
Avatar
Host is occupied with so many superficial things.
8:55 PM
but intelligence could be interpreted as how you use your brain not only the abilities of said brain under that definition a tulpa could be smarter than a host
Avatar
Money, shopping on Amazon, feeding himself, dealing with his girlfriend. So tulpa has more access to deeper brain processes and awareness.
Avatar
Deleted User 7/23/2018 8:55 PM
I doubt it
Avatar
in most cases it'd probably be unlikely
